Brazilian Butt Lift

The Brazilian Butt Lift (or BBL) is a two-step procedure where fat is harvested from one area and transferred to the outer thighs and buttocks, creating a rounded, hourglass body contour. The double benefits of sculpting and volumizing give an instant confidence boost.

Pre and Post Operative Instructions
About

The Brazilian Butt Lift is an excellent option for people looking to remove stubborn fat from one area and enhance the size and shape of their backside and overall figure. It is essential to have sufficient fat to be harvested and realistic goals around what this procedure can achieve.

Patients with buttocks that have begun to droop or with substantial folds of loose skin are typically better candidates for a traditional butt lift, which includes repositioning the backside to a higher position while removing excess skin. This process can also be combined with a fat transfer for patients seeking added volume. During the initial consultation, your surgeon will provide a comprehensive exam and discuss your goals to understand if this procedure is right for you.

Before surgery

A patient care concierge will guide you through the entire consultation process, which can be attended in person or virtually. During the consultation, your surgeon will learn about your goals, answer any questions, and perform an examination to create a personalized surgical plan. You will then be matched with a surgical coordinator who will walk you through each step of the preoperative process.

A Brazilian Butt Lift allows you to choose the exact area where you want to remove fat deposits. Common locations include the abdomen, upper and lower back, hips and flanks, and inner and outer thighs. In some cases, the surgeon will use more than one treatment site to collect enough fat to achieve your goals.

During surgery

For the first step of the procedure, Barrett Plastic Surgery uses the revolutionary S.A.F.E liposuction technique. S.A.F.E lipo uses mechanical agitation to loosen fat cells before removal to preserve as many as possible for the injection process. A small incision is made, and a small tube, or cannula, is inserted directly into the fat deposit. The fat cells are harvested and then prepared for injection.

Multiple injections are placed in the hips and buttocks to inject fat with a symmetrical, natural-looking result. The cannula injects fat, effectively reducing the risk of bruising around the injection points and allowing for a smooth insertion of the fat cells into the tissue.

To close the incisions, your surgeon will use a unique layered suturing technique that minimizes tension to minimize scarring.

After surgery

Patients typically experience soreness for the first days after a Brazilian Butt Lift. Swelling and bruising are common side effects that may last up to one month. We encourage patients to avoid excessive pressure on the backside during the first two weeks following surgery. This recovery period ensures the maximum amount of fat cells survive, allowing you to keep your new, full shape. Compression garments are often recommended to encourage healing and healthy blood flow in the treatment areas.

Your surgeon will provide specific instructions for optimal post-operative care, including an advanced scar management protocol after the initial healing period. Your surgical team is always available and will closely monitor your recovery in the weeks and months following surgery.
