About

A Preserve Breast Augmentation is an advanced surgical approach that combines Motiva® breast implants with tissue-preserving techniques designed to minimize disruption to the body's natural anatomy. Unlike traditional breast augmentation methods, the Preserve approach focuses on protecting important structures within the breast, including ligaments, blood vessels, and soft tissue, while creating a precise pocket for implant placement. The goal is to enhance breast volume while maintaining a natural look, feel, and movement.

Motiva implants are engineered to provide a soft, natural feel and are often placed through smaller incisions, which may result in less visible scarring. The combination of advanced implant technology and a tissue-preserving surgical technique allows patients to achieve beautiful, natural-looking results while prioritizing long-term breast health and aesthetics.

PROCEDURE DETAILS
Breast Augmentation with Implants

Incision options vary based on the type of implant used, the placement, and the patient's preference. Options include:

Transaxillary

Inside the armpit

Inframammary

Beneath the breast

Periareolar

Around the areolar

Regardless of the incision technique, your surgeon will carefully perform each pocket dissection to avoid bleeding. Each pocket is irrigated three times with a triple antibiotic solution to help reduce the risk of capsular contracture.

Next, the implant is placed into the breast pocket using a Keller funnel, which has been proven to decrease incision size and the risk of capsular contracture significantly. Implants are placed in two locations: above (subglandular) or below the chest muscle (submuscular).

After the surgeon places the implants, on-table sizing is used to ensure the implants will successfully achieve your goals and avoid any asymmetries. Incisions are then closed using a layered closure technique to minimize tension and decrease inflammation, ensuring minimal scarring and optimal healing.

After surgery

Patients will experience swelling and soreness for the first few days following their procedure but are often pleased to find this stage of recovery is very short. Most patients begin feeling better within three days and return to work within the week if their job is not overly strenuous. Pain, swelling, and sensitivity will linger for a few weeks but subside enough to allow you to return to most activities.

Patients are encouraged to walk immediately after surgery to prevent blood clots and improve circulation, but rigorous exercise should be restricted for two weeks, and upper-body activities should be avoided for six weeks. It takes about six weeks for the breasts to drop and fluff and six months to see their final appearance.

Your surgeon will provide specific instructions for optimal post-operative care, including an advanced scar management protocol after the initial healing period. Your surgical team is always available and will closely monitor your recovery in the weeks and months following surgery.

Breast implants are designed to last many years, making them a great investment of time and money. The FDA and implant manufacturers recommend replacing implants every ten years. Regular monitoring of breast implants after augmentation is also recommended.
